He also cites an entry in the 1910 census (which I will post separately) in which Cora and her husband are found living with a Nancy Sindledecker whom the census calls Cora's mother. He then points to a couple of IGI entries which show that Nancy Nixon married John Ensley and that Nancy Ensley later married Joseph Sindlecker.
I was also able to find them on IGI. The first marriage record says:

I'll have to look at these films when I get a chance and see if I can get any more information. This information about Nancy Nixon marrying an Ensley and then shortly later marrying somebody else actually makes a lot of sense. I had a suspicion that she married an Endsley because Edward and Margaret have a granddaughter living with them named Margared Endsley in the 1880 census. But I couldn't ever find a Nancy Endsley that looked right. This explains why.
Thanks to Milford for the lead.
I have obtained a copy of Nancy J. Nixon Sindledecker's widow's pension file. She applied for it in 1890 as widow of Joseph Sindledecker, who served in the Union Army in the civil war. See this post on Genforum for more details: http://genforum.genealogy.com/nixon/messages/2067.html Milford Kirby
