Olaus converted to Mormonism in 1864 in Sweden. He immigrated to the US in 1866 and came to Utah in a handcart company. Anna was in the same handcart company, but married to a different man, Andres Hanson. Anders died on the trail in Wyoming. Anna and Olaus were married some time after they reached Salt Lake.
FamilySearch says he married a Maggie Sorensen in 1868 in Sweden. I'm going to have to investigate this further, but it doesn't seem like it could be right becaus Olaus was in Utah in 1868... unless he went back as a missionary or something.
One problem with foreign names is that the poor extractors never know how to read it right. I've found Olaus in four censuses. In one he was called Olans, in another, Claus, in the third Clara (yikes!), and in the fourth Alans Willson. That fourth one was really hard to find. Poor guy.
