James Butter and family in 1850 census

I found Calvin Butter with his parents and siblings in Michigan in the 1850 census. I found one other Calvin Butter born in Ohio, but he is 4 years too old and he is a cooper by profession. I couldn't find any Calvin Butlers or Calvin Bulters born in Ohio that were within 5 years of his age.

I'm pretty sure this is the right one because his age is correct, his birthplace is correct. Also, his father is a Miller. Like father, like son.

These Butters sure do bounce around a lot.

There are a lot of strange marks in the Birthplace column. I think its something like Do for Ditto (meaning same as the person above). It's by far the most common mark on the page and the only one that is hard to read. I'm assuming it means ditto.

Calvin Butter Married Rebecca Nixon

I found Calvin Butter in the 1880 census in Shelbyville, Shelby, Indiana. He is married to a Rebecca who is the right age and birthplace to be Rebecca Nixon. This matches the information in Edward Nixon's obituary which makes a pretty strong case that its all correct. The extractors transcribed his name "Butler", but if you look at the record the second "T" is clearly crossed.

Obituary and Burial Permit for Edward Nixon (b 1803)

I was looking for Ohio sources to find any other records online that might include the Nixon family. I ended up finding an obit that they had included on the Monroe County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society. I confirms Edward's birthplace in Washington County, Pa; gives an exact birthdate not previously know; gives the year when he moved to Ohio which is confirmed by the census info; gives the year he moved to Indiana which I would not have known otherwise; tells what church he attended; the name of his son-in-law; where he was living when he died; where he was buried; and who he was survied by. All very exciting and valuable information.

I would like to confirm which daughter the son-in-law Calvin Butter married. Edward had 7 children listed in the 1850 census but only 6 were living at the time of his death. Who died and when?
