Here is John Nixon in the 1830 census in Fallowfield, Washington Co, Pennsylvania. The common consensus is that Edward Nixon's father is John. I can only assume that this is him. Washington Co. is just west of Westmoreland, which is where Edward and Margaret went as newlyweds.
Source Citation: Year: 1830; Census Place: Fallowfield, Washington, Pennsylvania; Roll: 163; Page: 151.
Extraction:
Name: John Nixon
Males 10-15: 2 (Robert & John J.)
Males 20-30: 1 (Lawrence)
Males 50-60: 1 (John)
Females 5-10: 1 (Sidney?)
Females 15-20: 2 (Mary, Margaret)
Females 20-30: 3 (Ann, Jane, Ruth)
Females 40-50: 1 (Margaret)
I took all the names from FamilySearch. All the ages pretty much match up except for Sidney. According to FamilySearch she should be 13.
